If your dog is bitten by a snake, please do the following:
Keep them warm and quiet (resting).
Take them to the nearest animal hospital right away!
Do not give them food or drink.
Do not use a tourniquet.
Do not cut the bite or suck out the venom.
Do not put ice on the site of the bite.
Try to remember what the snake looked like. If you killed it, bring it with you.

Treatment of snake bites may be a steroid injection, anti-venin, or a number of other
treatments depending upon the type and recency of the bite.

Typical symptoms are swelling, redness and bite marks around the potential bite area.
Lethargy, necrosis (tissue dying) or other symptoms may also occur.

Even if the bite is a couple days old, bring your pet in.

See your local vet for more information.
